Mark 4:21 “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand?”
Matthew 5:15 “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.”
Luke 8:16 “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.”
It is very important that we understand what the Bible is saying here. Jesus is the light and His word of the kingdom is light. And because Jesus is the Word, I think we can safely say that the lamp here is the Word of God.
Jesus is saying you don’t take a lamp and light it and put it under the bed or put it under a basket. The whole purpose of having the lamp is to put it on the lamp stand and let it shine. He is saying that God hasn’t revealed these magnificent truths about Himself in order for us to hide them. Just as natural light illumines the darkness and enables one to see visually, so the light of Christ shines in the hearts of believers and enables us to see the heavenly reality of God’s kingdom. In fact, our mission is to be light-bearers of Christ so that others may see the truth of the gospel and be freed from the blindness of sin and deception.
Does your wife believe in the woman that God created? Chances are – she struggles with it. Our culture. Past mistakes. Broken relationships. All these things allow the devil to convince her she is not capable of being a good Christian wife.
What is our role? It is simple. Encourage you wife. Speak to her potential. Lift her up. Pray for her. Be bold and consistent in sharing who God says she is and how you see His reflection in her. Share God’s truth about who she is. Help her shine.
Be Strong. Act Like Men.
