#2 Post – Pray Anyway

Pray Anyway

2 Cor 12:10 – For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

This week I was presented with an opportunity to pray for and with a friend of mine. I was certain it was God speaking to me, telling me he wanted me to pray with this person. As I do too often though, I started to think about it and ask questions. “Why would God want me to pray with this person? He doesn’t need my prayers, he’s got it together.” Well needless to say I didn’t move out in obedience to God’s call and I let the moment pass. A few minutes later I began to hear my friend share with a group of people that he had been struggling and feeling weak. I was crushed. God wanted to speak peace, confidence and strength into this man and I didn’t obey His calling.

Why is it that we don’t move at the sound of God’s voice in us? Why do we too often let fear or feeling uncomfortable stop us from doing the great things God wants to do through us. I think this is an area a lot of men are pretty weak in but as we see in 2 Corinthians when we realize where these weaknesses are in our lives then God can really use us. We are called not to be strong in ourselves but allow God to work in our weakness so His strength can move and He can be glorified. All we have to do is listen and obey. Where is God calling you to allow him to work through your weaknesses? Pray that you will put aside your pride, admit where you are weak, listen for God’s call and allow His strength to move through you.

Be Strong. Act Like Men.
