Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin – Proverbs 13:3

  1. I have been reading your blog for a couple of months. I am remarried. It is a second marriage for both of us. We have four children. I started reading your blog because I wanted to be a different husband to my wife and lead my family. It has been challenging with a blended family. My wife and her ex-husband have a amicable relationship, however I do not have anything close to that with my ex-wife. I read this verse and started thinking about how poor we speak to each other instead of focusing on working together for our kids. Have you come across any other people that have this struggle? I know that this is a blog about being a better husband and father, but I think being a better man includes working with the mother of my children.

    • Hi Dan….
Thanks for reading the blog. We hope that you’ve been enjoying it.

You asked if we have talked to others about this struggle. We have….me! I have been remarried for almost two years. We have five children combined…plus ex-spouses that present challenges with blending our family, but more importantly impacting our marriage. You are absolutely correct…being a better man includes working with your ex-wife. Trust me…it changes many things if you can co-parent successfully.
If you check the statistics….we are not alone as men in this situation. I tell you what….we’ll post a couple of articles specifically on this topic. Pray about the relationship and how you would like to see it change. Start the change with you…..and in time I bet that you find that it transforms itself into something more amicable.
