If you do it, then stop it.

Why do husbands and wives think that it is acceptable to joke around sexually with other people besides their spouse? Why do husbands and wives think that it is acceptable to talk or joke about past sexual relationships…especially with their spouse sitting next to them?

While getting my lunch yesterday I overheard a conversation between two colleagues talking about how much better their sex lives used to be. Both colleagues…just trashed their husbands and joked around about what they used to “get” back in the glory days.

I’ve heard plenty of men joking around about having sex with other women in front of their wives. I’ve heard women joke around about people that they’ve been with in the past in front of their husbands. It is even more frustrating to know that this type talk is coming out of the mouths of people who know better, but get caught up in it.

Men…if this is you, then stop it. You’re being unloving. And ladies…if this is you, then stop it. You’re being disrespectful.

“However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband” – Ephesians 5:33

Be Strong. Act Like Men.

  1. Could not agree more. It becomes a slippery slope when one speaks that casually about something so sacred as the intimacy shared between a husband and wife. Great reminder as well to hold each other accountable if we do hear it.
