We’ve discussed the many places that God challenges husbands to love their wives and lead their families. We pointed to Genesis when God goes directly to Adam rather than Eve for eating the fruit. It is clear that God has commanded husbands to a high calling and accountability.
I was having a bad attitude this morning. I was frustrated with the way the YMCA was handling communication. I was on a rant. I know my bad attitude was not an example of grace and forgiveness.
My wife…lovingly and respectfully…attempted to challenge me to not be “conformed to this world” this morning. She was trying to encourage me to work on renewing my mind through all that I have been learning. I stubbornly didn’t listen to what she was saying and became defensive. I arrive at work and promptly find this verse:
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.- Romans 12:12
We see it. We read it. We know it, but we struggle with applying it.
If you’re reading this and happen to see my wife…..please tell her I said thank you for caring enough about me to speak up when she sees that I am not living up to my potential.
