Let’s say that you and your wife are walking down the street after dinner…..and suddenly you are approached by a mugger demanding your brand new smart phone or he will hurt your wife.
What do you do?
It’s clear. You hand over that phone and protect your wife from physical harm.
I’ll flip it on you. Your wife accidently drops your brand new smart phone and it breaks. What is your reaction? You might be angry. You might be disappointed. How do you respond? Do you have harsh words? Do you give the silent treatment?
If your wife’s physical well-being is more important than your smart phone, then shouldn’t her emotional well-being be more important too?
I witness a wife dropping her husband’s phone on a sidewalk. It shattered the screen. She was visibly upset that she broke it. He was frustrated and started to berate her in public. You could see that she was hurt by his words and actions.
It reminded me of Ephesians 5:28-29
“In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church”
Make sure that you love you wife more than your material belongs. Cherish her….not all the stuff.
Be Strong. Act Like Men.
