Concrete Footings

We love watching this show called “Rescue My Renovation”   In short – it is about a contractor who helps people correct the results of other contractors who ripped people off leaving them with poor, unsafe renovations.  A recent episode focus on the poor design and construction of an outdoor deck.  The foundation of a deck are the concrete footings in the ground that support the weight of the deck.  If properly installed the footing should extend 42 inches into the ground to get below the frost line.  These were only 13 inches and were cracking under the weight causing the entire structure to be unstable and unsafe.

It reminded me of the foundation that we build our marriages on.  It is a proper footing capable of carrying the weight of marriage, family, work….basically all that life can bring our way.

Have you place yourself on a proper footing?

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. – Matthew 7:24
